OFF ROAD TRIPS

TRIP #1

Starting from your hotel and driving towards the eastern coast of the island, our first stops are two of the most amazing beaches of Andros.

Vori is a small sandy bay lying among thick vegetation, surrounded by wildly shaped rocks. During this part of our trip, we will definitely take some photos of the area’s famous shipwreck. We will also swim in the emerald waters of Achla, a beach considered to be one of the most beautiful of Greece. The sea is always calm there, even when it’s windy, while the river of the same name (Achlas) flowing into it is the natural habitat of several species of flora and fauna.

Following a route to the inland of Andros, we will visit Gerolimni, a place of unparalleled beauty unique in Cyclades. Like a paradise on earth, it’s the spot from where river Achlas starts its journey to the beach. It will take us about twenty minutes to walk, until we discover this little gem. The ground is densely covered with trees and a magnificent waterfall forms a basin, which looks like a small lake. The historic stone bridge gives the place another element of magic and mystery.

TRIP #2

Our second suggested trip begins with a stop for swimming in Ayios Ioannis (Kremmydes), a charming and attractively isolated beach in the South of the island, named after the monastery of Ayios Ioannis (Saint John) built on the top of the hill embracing the beach.

The fine pebbles, the sparkling blue water and the secret caves add to the uniqueness of the place. We continue further southwards to beaches Stavros and Steno located at the coast of a protected zone, habitat of Mediterranean wild birds.

These two spots of the island also offer an unobstructed view to the open sea and the North of Tinos. The famous sea passage between the two islands has always been a “door” connecting the commercial relations of the Mediterranean and the Black Sea.

Last stop of our trip is Episkopeio, a picturesque village in the mainland of Andros. Apart from enjoying the verdant scenery, we will visit the renowned stone bridge of the area. It was used as one of the main shooting spots of “Mikra Agglia”, a film about the island’s maritime tradition, narrating the story of an unfulfilled love. Since then, locals call this beautiful bridge “The Bridge of Love”.
